The Sport Palace is one of the key sports facilities of Kazan. Designed by architect Munir Agishev and commissioned on October 30, 1966, this year the venue celebrates its 50th anniversary.

The Sport Palace’s infrastructure features two ice rinks: one with a 3,523-seat capacity and the other with a 1,100-seat capacity. The facility meets all requirements for hosting international sporting events. Until 2005, the venue served as home ice for the Ak Bars Ice Hockey Club that earned its first national title here in 1998.

Ice rinks at the Sport Palace operate non-stop all year round. Training exercises, national and international sporting events are held here on a regular basis. Reconstruction of the Sport Palace in 1998 and preparation for the 27th Summer Universiade significantly increased the venue’s infrastructure capacity in terms of hosting large-scale sporting and cultural events.

As of today, the Sport Palace houses the following facilities:

  • Children and youth figure skating school,
  • Sports Museum of the Republic of Tatarstan,
  • Sports Veterans’ Council of the Republic of Tatarstan,
  • Specialised sports clubs open to the general public.
