On 24 October, during the Opening Ceremony of the 5th WorldSkills Hi-Tech 2018 National Competition, the WorldSkills Kazan 2019 Flag Relay and presentation of the WorldSkills Competition in Kazan took place in Yekaterinburg.
This time, the WorldSkills Hi-Tech gathered 597 competitors and more than 450 experienced Russian and foreign experts. 36 teams compete in 40 skills. The teams represent Russian state corporations and leaders of the domestic industry: Rosatom, Rostec, UAC (United Aircraft Building Corporation), Roskosmos, Evraz, STAN, CTPZ (Chelyabinsk Pipe Rolling Plant), UVZ (Uralvagonzavod), Rosneft, Rostelecom, Rossetti, Sibur, RZD, Gazprom Neft PAO and others.
It is to be recalled that the Russian leg of the WorldSkills Flag Relay started in August 2018 at the Final of the 6th National Competition “Young Professionals” (WorldSkills Russia) in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. It will travel across 24 regions of the Russian Federation. Tomsk (6 November), Volgograd (16 November), Simferopol (19 November) will host the Flag Relay Ceremony.
The Russian leg of the WorldSkills Kazan 2019 Flag Relay includes the flag parade at the opening or closing ceremonies of regional, corporate or departmental competitions, and additional activities:
- visiting colleges, leading educational institutions, factories and manufacturing sites, where the WorldSkills Kazan 2019 and WorldSkills Flag Relay project are presented;
- meeting with WorldSkills champions, organization of the WorldSkills Flag Relay exhibition, Official Ceremony for WorldSkills Kazan 2019 ambassadors;
- visiting the iconic places of Russian regions, etc.
