On 6-8 December 2018, the International Children's Games for Olympic Champions’ Prizes (11th Alexander Popov Cup) will take place in Kazan. The 11th Alexander Popov Cup will be organized in a new way and combine 5 sporting events, except for a common swimming style. The athletes will compete for prizes in Greco-Roman wrestling (Alexander Karelin prize); handball (Igor Lavrov prize); skiing (Alexander Legkov prize); rhythmic gymnastics (Daria Shkurikhina prize); synchronized swimming (Svetlana Romashina prize); swimming (Alexander Popov prize). About 1,600 young athletes aged up to 16 from 60 Russian regions, CIS and European countries (Germany, Estonia, Serbia and others) will compete in the tournament.
The Alexander Popov Cup will be organized at the following venues: Burevestnik Swimming Pool (swimming, synchronized swimming); Burevestnik Athletic Stadium (skiing); Academic and Laboratory Building of the Volga Region State Academy of Physical Culture, Sport and Tourism (Greco-Roman wrestling); Gymnastics Centre (rhythmic gymnastics); Miras Sports Complex (handball).
The 11th Alexander Popov Cup will become the brightest youth sports celebration. 30 Olympic champions and medallists, as well as world champions will host special workshops for young competitors.
The senior-most officials of the international sports community, Heads of Russian regions, and largest international companies will become honorary guests of the Alexander Popov Cup.
For the first time, a special venue for official ceremonies, recreation, and communication between young athletes and Olympic champions, and invited guests in a festive atmosphere (House of the Cup) will appear during the tournament.
Admission to the tournament is free.
The 11th Alexander Popov Cup will be organized with support from the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan.
Samsung Electronics Rus Company, adidas Russia, and CIS have been the partners and “friends” of the Alexander Popov Cup for several years. Gazprom PAO global energy company will become a title partner of the tournament in 2018. Match TV channel will provide information support. “Match! Our sport” channel will broadcast the Children’s Games for the first time.
