The 3m springboard synchro concluded the first competition day of the FINA/CNSG Diving World Series at the Aquatics Palace in Kazan. Oleksandr Gorshkovozov and Oleg Kolodiy from Ukraine topped podium (403.26 points).

Evgenii Kuznetsov and Nikita Shleikher representing Russia took silver (401.94 points). According to the head coach of Team Russia Svetlana Moiseeva, this duet was a fallback measure. In February, a long-term partner of Nikita Shleikher, Ilya Zakharov, got injured on the knee. His recovery goes well, and Svetlana Moiseeva does believe that Ilya will be in good shape by the FINA World Championships in Korea. “The athletes keep going, but there are some drawbacks preventing them from becoming leaders”, she said.

Yahel Castillo and Juan Celaya representing Mexico won bronze totaling 400.53 points. “There are some aspects to be worked on before tomorrow’s session, I am planning to rectify deficiencies. I will compete in the 3m springboard synchro event in the half final”, Juan noted. The athletes will continue their sports journey taking part in the next leg of the FINA/CNSG Diving World Series in London. Then they will have a two-week break before the national championship, qualifying leg of the World Aquatics Championships.
