Minister of Sport of the Russian Federation, Pavel Kolobkov, held a working meeting with Minister of Sport of the Republic of Tatarstan, Vladimir Leonov, and Director General of the Directorate for Sports and Social Projects, Azat Kadyrov, in Moscow on December 25.
Participants of the meeting discussed issues related to the preparation of a number of sporting events, including the first CIS Games that are to be held in Kazan on 20-27 August 2020. The programme includes up to 20 sports. The competitions are to become part of the celebration of the Tatar Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic’s 100th anniversary.
“To diverse the events scheduled in August, we decided to organize the National Sports Festival on the sidelines of the CIS Games. Its delivery has been negotiated with the minister. Of course, we have also summarized the expiring year and the WorldSkills Competition 2019, for which (and we thank our executives for the support with this task) we have renewed the stock fund of the Universiade Village and the academic and laboratory complex of the Volga Academy of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism where we had kitchen equipment and furniture replaced,” said Azat Kadyrov.
The minister was also informed on the performance of the FINA Development Centre in Kazan and preparation of the first youth urban sports festival – URBAN Games. The event is scheduled for June 2020. The meeting included discussion of the sports programme and side events.
