The International Children's Games for Olympic Champions’ Prizes (11th Alexander Popov Cup) kicked off in Kazan. The 11th Alexander Popov Cup combines six sporting events. The athletes will compete for prizes in Greco-Roman wrestling (Alexander Karelin prize); handball (Igor Lavrov prize); skiing (Alexander Legkov prize); rhythmic gymnastics (Daria Shkurikhina prize); synchronized swimming (Svetlana Romashina prize); swimming (Alexander Popov prize).

The WorldSkills Kazan 2019 Flag flew in the skies above the Amur River. Khabarovsk hosted the WorldSkills Kazan 2019 Flag Relay. Skydivers conducted a collective jump from a height of 1,500 metres. Rodion Khasanov, WorldSkills Russia Movement Expert, was one of them.

The WorldSkills Flag Relay reached Nizhny Novgorod and took place during the Opening Ceremony of the 5th Regional Competition “Young Professionals” (WorldSkills Russia). Sergey Zlobin, Minister of Education, Science and Youth Policy of the Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, and Maxim Cherkasov, Minister of Industry, Trade and Entrepreneurship of the Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, and other officials attended the ceremony.

On 6-8 December 2018, the International Children's Games for Olympic Champions’ Prizes (11th Alexander Popov Cup) will take place in Kazan. An annual tournament has become traditional for young athletes since 2008. The 11th Alexander Popov Cup will be organized in a new way and combine 5 sporting events, except for a common swimming style.

On 23 November, the WorldSkills Flag Relay reached Surgut and took place during the 4th Regional Competition “Young Professionals” (WorldSkills) of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug – Yugra. There were more than 200 Competitors. Deputy Director of the Young Professionals Union Regional Development Agency, Lyudmila Ivanyuk, and Deputy Director – Head of Continuous Professional Training and Science Bureau of Education and Youth Policy Department, Alexander Gomzyak, took part in the ceremony.

2018 Red Bull Air Race Season wrapped up. In a title that came down to the final round of the season, Martin Šonka won the first Red Bull Air Race World Championship of his career – and the first for his native Czech Republic. Capping off the season finale at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, USA on Sunday, Matt Hall of Australia joined Šonka on the overall podium in second, with US pilot Michael Goulian taking third. Texan Kirby Chambliss gave the weekend’s 20,000 home spectators even more to cheer about with a race podium.

The Volga Federal District Medical Volunteer Community Forum kicked off at the Kazan Federal University. 200 volunteers from all regions of the Volga Federal District attended it. The Head of the Volunteer Department of ANO Directorate for Sports and Social Projects, Ayrat Mubarakshin, became an educational programme speaker.
