“The sixth leg of the FINA Swimming World Cup was organized at the highest level.” President of the All-Russian Swimming Federation Vladimir Salnikov voiced such an assessment to journalists, while summing up the tournament results. “Kazan is deservedly considered to be the aquatic sports capital of Russia,” he added.

The final competition day of the sixth leg of the FINA Swimming World Cup continued with the women’s 200m backstroke event. Australia’s Kaylee McKeown showcased the best time in the final – 2:07.92. Another Australian swimmer, Olympic champion and five-time world champion Emily Seebohm finished second (2:08.45).

A tough struggle for the first place on the podium unfolded between two Russian swimmers in the men’s 100m freestyle event . Vladislav Grinev finished ahead of Vladimir Morozov and set a new World Cup record in this event (47.78).

Australia’s Kaylee McKeown was in a league of her own, winning gold in the women’s 100m backstroke event with 59.25. Maria Kameneva of Russia placed second (59.27); two-time Olympic champion, five-time world champion Emily Seebohm ended up third (59.63).

Day 2 of the sixth leg of the FINA Swimming World Cup is underway in Kazan. Hungarian swimmer, three-time Olympic champion, many-time world and European champion Katinka Hosszu took her second gold at the tournament in Kazan. She showed the best time in the women’s 400m individual medley, touching the pad at 4:36.77.
