Russia’s Sport Minister Vitaly Mutko expressed satisfaction with the progress of Kazan’s preparation for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Kazan. “We are happy with the progress made. We have no issues with the republic,” he said at the meeting of the Kazan 2019 Republican Organising Committee that took place at the Tatarstan Cabinet of Ministers on November 5, 2015. The event was also attended by President of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov.

The World Mixed Curling Championship will be held in Kazan on October 16-22, 2016.  An inspection team arrived in Kazan on November 7 to check the host city’s preparation for the upcoming sporting event. The team is composed of Russia’s Deputy Minister of Sport Yury Nagornykh and Russian Curling Federation (RCF) representatives – President Dmitry Svischev and Secretary General Olga Zharkova – and other officials.

The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) delegates have concluded today their inspection visit to Kazan. The purpose of their two-day visit was to inspect the host city’s progress in the build-up to the upcoming IAAF World U20 Championships. The IAAF delegation is composed of IAAF Events and Competitions Director Paul Hardy, IAAF Senior Competitions Manager Carlo de Angeli, IAAF Event Coordinator Véronique Marchal-Rejaud, technical delegates Helmut Digel and Chris Cohen, Secretary General of the All-Russian Athletics Federation (ARAF) and IAAF Council member Mikhail Butov, Head of the ARAF Sports Programmes Department and Coordinator for the 2016 IAAF World U20 Championships Elena Orlova and other officials.

The Russian Short Course Swimming Championships will take place in Kazan on November 8-12, 2015. The event will be held at the Aquatics Palace, one of Russia’s largest indoor sports venues that several months ago played host to the 16th edition of the FINA World Championships.

The presentation of the Russian National GTO Health and Fitness Programme’s 3rd and 4th level gold pins took place at MIA Rossiya Segodnya’s International Multimedia Press Centre on Tuesday, October 27. During the ceremony, Russia’s Minister of Sport Vitaly Mutko handed the pins to 18 schoolchildren – participants of the GTO United Ten-Day Festival.

The orientation workshop attended by representatives of volunteer centres of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ Local Organising Committee and representatives of host cities was held on October 15-16 in Saransk. Representatives of the Executive Directorate for Sports Projects acted as seminar experts and presented the experience gained in implementation of volunteer programmes for international sports events.

A meeting was held at the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Tatarstan today to discuss the preparation and delivery of the WorldSkills Competition 2019 in Kazan. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Tatarstan’s Prime Minister Ildar Khalikov.

A 2,212-strong team composed of volunteers of the Republic of Tatarstan, 20 regions of Russia and 10 countries of the world contributed their time and efforts to the delivery of the 2015 FINA World Championships. 12 world records were set by the world’s top athletes at the aquatics tournament in Kazan but the team of volunteers can be proud of the records of their own that they managed to achieve by staging the best FINA World Championships ever.
