Russia’s Sport Minister Vitaly Mutko expressed satisfaction with the progress of Kazan’s preparation for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Kazan. “We are happy with the progress made. We have no issues with the republic,” he said at the meeting of the Kazan 2019 Republican Organising Committee that took place at the Tatarstan Cabinet of Ministers on November 5, 2015. The event was also attended by President of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov.

The World Mixed Curling Championship will be held in Kazan on October 16-22, 2016.  An inspection team arrived in Kazan on November 7 to check the host city’s preparation for the upcoming sporting event. The team is composed of Russia’s Deputy Minister of Sport Yury Nagornykh and Russian Curling Federation (RCF) representatives – President Dmitry Svischev and Secretary General Olga Zharkova – and other officials.

The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) delegates have concluded today their inspection visit to Kazan. The purpose of their two-day visit was to inspect the host city’s progress in the build-up to the upcoming IAAF World U20 Championships. The IAAF delegation is composed of IAAF Events and Competitions Director Paul Hardy, IAAF Senior Competitions Manager Carlo de Angeli, IAAF Event Coordinator Véronique Marchal-Rejaud, technical delegates Helmut Digel and Chris Cohen, Secretary General of the All-Russian Athletics Federation (ARAF) and IAAF Council member Mikhail Butov, Head of the ARAF Sports Programmes Department and Coordinator for the 2016 IAAF World U20 Championships Elena Orlova and other officials.
