An extended session was held on November 25 in Kazan to sum up results of implementing the Russian National GTO Health and Fitness Programme in the Republic of Tatarstan in the year of 2015. The meeting was held via video conferencing and was chaired by Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan, Vasil Shaikhraziev.

Kazan is currently getting ready to host the European Judo Championships that are due to be held in the sports capital of Russia on April 20-24, 2016. The inspection visits of the European Judo Union (EJU) and Russian Judo Federation (RJF) are underway these days in Kazan to check the host city’s preparation progress for next year’s sporting event. Among those who came to inspect Kazan are EJU Vice President Michal Vachun, Assistant to the EJU President Yana Dmitrieva, EJU Head Office Director Martin Poiger, RJF Vice President and Executive Director Valentin Khabirov, RJF Events Manager Anatoly Laryukov and other officials.

The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Natalia Parshikova, State Secretary and Deputy Prime Minister of Sport of Russia.

Russia’s Sport Minister Vitaly Mutko expressed satisfaction with the progress of Kazan’s preparation for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Kazan. “We are happy with the progress made. We have no issues with the republic,” he said at the meeting of the Kazan 2019 Republican Organising Committee that took place at the Tatarstan Cabinet of Ministers on November 5, 2015. The event was also attended by President of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov.

The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) delegates have concluded today their inspection visit to Kazan. The purpose of their two-day visit was to inspect the host city’s progress in the build-up to the upcoming IAAF World U20 Championships. The IAAF delegation is composed of IAAF Events and Competitions Director Paul Hardy, IAAF Senior Competitions Manager Carlo de Angeli, IAAF Event Coordinator Véronique Marchal-Rejaud, technical delegates Helmut Digel and Chris Cohen, Secretary General of the All-Russian Athletics Federation (ARAF) and IAAF Council member Mikhail Butov, Head of the ARAF Sports Programmes Department and Coordinator for the 2016 IAAF World U20 Championships Elena Orlova and other officials.
