Special Olympic Russia and Special Olympics International inform that Kazan, Russia will host the Special Olympics World Winter Games in 2022 with a key aim of transforming the lives and prospects of people with intellectual disabilities across Russia.
The centenary of the republic has become an important factor of unity and the subject of pride of the Tatarstan people, as well as a significant date for the whole country. This was announced today by the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov at a meeting of the organizing committee for the preparation and conduct of the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Tatarstan. The meeting was attended by Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Marat Khusnullin, President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, Tatarstan State Advisor, Hero of Labor of the Russian Federation Mintimer Shaimiev, Chairman of Tatarstan's State Council Farid Mukhametshin, Deputy Minister of Culture Vladimir Osintsev and others. The event was held in the Kazan City Hall.
Festivities dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Tatar Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic (TASSR) can be carried out in Tatarstan in the second half of the summer, Minister of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan Irada Ayupova announced at an online press meeting.
The official website of the First CIS Games has been launched. The Games are expected to be held in Kazan this year. The website is available at https://ciskazan2020.com/. It supports two languages – Russian and Tatar.
The Kazan Aquatics Palace, where athletes from the FINA Development Centre, as well as sports schools students and residents of Tatarstan have their practice, was equipped with new specialized diving equipment and gear that meets all international FINA standards and requirements are engaged.
