The FIE World Cup in Women’s Foil (Individual and Teams) took place in Kazan's Gymnastics Centre (6 Syrtlanovoy Street) on February 21-23, 2020.
153 athletes representing 34 countries participated in the competition. The tournament was refereed by 10 international and 15 national referees of various categories.
For the first time in the World Cup history, the International Fencing Federation suggested that Kazan shall host one of the legs.
The competition used only one type of weapon, the foil. Individual and team medals were on offer. The tournament was a qualifying competition for the 2020 Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo.
Kazan previously hosted fencing events. Fencing was a part of the programme of the Summer Universiade 2013. In 2014, the Kazan Tennis Academy hosted the World Fencing Championship, and in 2019, the Boxing and Table Tennis Centre hosted the Russian U18 Fencing Championships.
Elisa Di Francisca of Italy became gold medallist in the individual event at the 2020 FIE World Cup in Women’s Foil. Italian fencers also topped the podium in the team tournament.
