The Russian Athletics Championships were held at Kazan’s Central Stadium (2a Tashayak St.) on July 19-22. The tournament featured nearly 1,000 competitors representing 76 regions of Russia. 38 gold medals were contested during four days.
The Russian Athletics Championships are an annual outdoor track and field competition organised by the All-Russia Athletic Federation (ARAF) and the Ministry of Sport of the Russian Federation.
The tournament is held on an annual basis at an open-air stadium with a 400-metre running track. The host city is approved by the ARAF Presidium. The Tatarstan capital hosted the national championships for the third time. Earlier, it played stage to this tournament in 2008 and 2014.
The past Russian Athletics Championships helped reveal best track and field athletes and enabled competitors to try their strength in the lead-up to the European Athletics Championships in Berlin (GER) on 7-12 August 2018.
